Fostering interest in the game
A moderately large contingent of Victorians made their way to Canberra for the annual start to the national bridge calendar, though top results were confined to a small group.
The following were the outstanding results:
TBIB Open Pairs: Ben Thompson combined with young West Australian Renee Cooper to win this prestigious event – a wonderful performance, congratulations Ben!
Women’s Teams: Jenny Thompson contested the Final of this events in a team of otherwise non-Victorians, while Kim Frazer and Kitty Muntz were semi-finalists.
South-West Pacific Open Teams: The Ziggy team, which included James Coutts and Justin Mill, topped the regular competition and made the Final, a fantastic effort. Ben Thompson was part of the second-placed Newman Team in qualifying and contested the semi-finals before being eliminated by the Ziggy team.
We look forward to another strong year for Victorians in the events to come in 2023.
